Bachelor’s Degree in LLB (NQF7) or relevant Legal Qualification with 5 (five) years’ experience in Middle / Senior Managerial Level in the Public Service. Admitted as Advocate or Attorney. Valid driver’s licence, Successful completion of the SMS pre-entry certificate as offered by the National School of Government (NSG). Advising the head of department and the member of the executive council on exercising their statutory responsibility in order to avoid and minimize legal risks, reputational risks and medico legal exposure of the department. Reviewing existing legislation, identifying shortcomings and drafting and implementing new legislation. Effectively managing litigation and litigation support in cases for and against the department. Effective management of internal and external legislation. Provide legal training and building capacity of the department’s personnel to understand and engage with legal matters, such 128 as contracts and service level agreements. Compile quarterly and annual legal reports outlining the department’s performance.
